Puppy Kindergarten is training for puppies between the ages of 12-18 weeks that has lived in his/her home for a minimum of 21 days and received their first two vaccines. The main purpose of Puppy Kindergarten classes is to develop the puppy into a well mannered adolescent dog with a stable temperament.
This is a critical period in a puppy’s life for them to become well socialized and set the stage for future training. A common mistake made by owners, is limited interaction with the outdoor environment, other dogs and people. Limiting a puppy’s socialization can hinder their ability to respond in future training and social situations.
Puppy Kindergarten is training for the puppies and their owners. It offers a controlled social environment to introduce puppies to other people and dogs. The class teaches the importance of recognizing that “dogs will be dogs.” They chew, dig, bark and bite. All of these are natural dog behaviors, but there need to be rules within the household. This class teaches the owner how to set rules and boundaries for their dog to control nuisance behaviors. Puppy Kindergarten also addresses the concern of protection and housebreaking.
The Puppy Kindergarten six-week program costs $100, and classes meet every Monday at 6:30 pm. We encourage all members of the family to participate in the program.
If you decide to continue training sessions after the completion of Puppy Kindergarten, you will receive a $25 credit toward any formal training program.
