At Kim's K-9, we want you to take special note of the family atmosphere...yep! Unlike many other places, this means you will NOT find a rapid staff turn-over. We know who your dog is. What he/she likes... what he/she doesn't. And they get to know us. Your dog can count on a high level of care by devoted adults. Same people. Same love. Every time.
Kim Steffes, owner and expert trainer
Kim owns Kim’s K-9 Training Center with her husband, Brian. Kim completed her Master Training Course in 1987 and has been actively training companion obedience in Grand Rapids, Michigan ever since. Kim specializes in opening the lines of communication between dogs and their owners with basic obedience training, which is necessary for the dog to live in harmony in the household. Kim and Brian have a cattle dog mix names Oliver.
Brian Steffes, owner and operations manager
Brian is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day business of Kim’s K-9. He enjoys spending time with the dogs each day, but especially prides himself on the many relationships made with clients and their pets throughout the years.
Ashley joins us from Phoenix, Arizona. Ashley has been involved with dogs forever. She and her mom bred and raised labrador retrievers, back in the day. Currently living in an apartment, Ashley gets her dog fix her with us. She has many favorite dogs here and plans to combine them all to make the perfect dog to live with her when she finally gets her house.
Kaitlynn is currently in her last semester at Cornerstone University getting her degree in Business. She fully intends to put this degree to work to own a... guess what? a kennel of her own someday! Dogs have always been her passion and she intends to make them her lifes work. And who doesn't enjoy sincere 'puppy love'? As soon as her schooling is done and she can give her pooch the time he deserves, she intends to sneak back to her parents house, kidnap her dog and bring him to live with her in Grand Rapids. Shhhhh! Don't tell!
Sue S. pet care specialist
Sue is an animal lover extraordinaire. If it has fur and four feet, it is her favorite! Sue steps in whenever the staff has to travel for business or family trips. When you first meet Sue, don't be surprised if she looks right past you and only has eyes for your pooch! It is a dog lover’s glich we all share. Sue has a beautiful big mix rescue dog named "abby" and a cattle dog named Diego. Besides her family and her church, Sue spends time at her favorite animal non-profit; H.U.G.s ranch, where people in need can go and benefit from the love animals pour out on us.
Philip Steffes, pet care assistant
Phillip quickly becomes a favorite of all the dogs because he is a playtime-pro. He loves interacting with the dogs and throwing their tennis balls. His high energy and enthusiasm are always a delight. Philip also assists Kim with training by posing as the “distraction” to test a dog’s focus, and does the tons of little jobs that always crop up here at the Center.
